1. Important notice

The content published on this website is general in nature. Before acting on anything you read here, speak to a Mbalwa adviser or another appropriately qualified professional.

3. Nature of services

Mbalwa Investment Services provides investment and retirement planning advice and intermediary services to clients in South Africa, within the categories reflected on our FSCA licence. Our advisers assess a client's financial circumstances, goals, risk profile and time horizon before recommending suitable products or strategies. This website describes those services in general terms for information purposes; it is not itself an offer, solicitation or personalised recommendation.

4. Advice and suitability

Suitable advice can only be given once an adviser has gathered sufficient information about your personal and financial circumstances, in line with our obligations under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS). Nothing on this website should be read as a recommendation suited to any individual's specific situation. Formal advice is only provided following a proper needs analysis and is documented in a written record of advice.

5. Investment risks

All investing carries risk.

Investment values can rise or fall, and you may not get back the full amount originally invested. Please read the risk points below carefully before making any investment decision.

  • Capital can rise or fall. The value of an investment is not guaranteed and can go down as well as up.
  • Historic performance is not a guarantee. Past investment performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
  • Market and currency risk. Investment values are affected by market movements, and offshore exposure introduces currency (exchange rate) risk in addition to market risk.
  • Fees affect outcomes. Adviser, platform and fund fees reduce net investment returns over time and should always be understood before investing.
  • Product terms apply. Every investment or insurance product carries its own specific terms, conditions, charges and risks, set out in the relevant product documentation, which should be read before committing to that product.

6. Accuracy and updates

We take reasonable care to ensure the information on this website is accurate and current at the time of publication. However, financial markets, products, legislation and tax treatment change over time, and we cannot guarantee that every page reflects the most recent developments at the moment you read it. Where a figure, rate or rule may have changed, please confirm the current position with your adviser before relying on it.

7. Third-party information and links

This website may reference or link to third-party products, providers or external websites for convenience. Mbalwa does not control, endorse or accept responsibility for the accuracy, content or availability of third-party information, and inclusion of a reference or link does not imply a recommendation of that provider or product.

8. Tax and legal information

Any general references to tax treatment or legal matters on this website are provided for context only and are not tax or legal advice. Tax legislation, rates and allowances can change, and how they apply depends on your individual circumstances. Please obtain advice from a qualified tax practitioner or attorney, in accordance with applicable tax legislation, before making decisions based on tax or legal considerations.

9. Conflicts of interest

Mbalwa maintains a conflict-of-interest management policy in line with FAIS requirements. Where an adviser may receive a commission, fee or other benefit connected to a product or service being recommended, this is disclosed to you before you commit to that product, so that you can assess the recommendation with full knowledge of how your adviser is remunerated. A copy of our conflict-of-interest management policy is available on request.

10. Complaints procedure

If you are unhappy with any advice or service you have received from Mbalwa, please raise it with us directly in the first instance so we can investigate and try to resolve it — contact your adviser or write to us using the details in Section 13 of our Privacy and POPIA Notice or via our contact page. If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction through our internal process, you have the right to escalate it to the Office of the FAIS Ombud, the independent body established to resolve disputes between clients and financial services providers relating to financial advice.

11. Recommendation to obtain personal advice

Because this website provides general information only, we strongly recommend that you obtain personalised financial advice before making any investment, retirement or insurance decision. A Mbalwa adviser can assess your specific circumstances, explain the risks and costs relevant to you, and help you decide whether a particular strategy or product is suitable for your needs.
